Split System
Air Conditioners

Split system air conditioners are a fantastic way to heat or cool a room.

They work exactly the same way as a ducted reverse cycle air conditioner, without the need of the ducting, return air grille and zone motors. For this reason, they are cost effective, quick to install and extremely versatile as to where they can be positioned.

The outdoor units are quiet, with decibel readings around 62db, which means they can located just about anywhere around the house, either on a wall bracket (see benefits below), on the ground or even on the roof. The indoor unit mounted on the wall is also very versatile. Ideally these are positioned high on a wall, we drill a hole, roughly 65mm in diameter, through the wall to outside. This hole is used to pass the refrigeration pipes, electrical cables and drain through, which allows us to ‘connect’ the indoor to the outdoor unit. The unit is controlled via a battery-operated remote control.

A split system is made up of the following components:

  • Indoor unit
  • Outdoor unit
  • Refrigeration pipes
  • Electrical Cables

Benefits of a wall bracket

Positioning the outdoor unit on a wall bracket is an ideal solution for many reasons. It ‘lifts’ the unit up off the ground, allowing more airflow around the unit. It can prevent small lizards or the like crawling into the unit, which provides a nice warm place for them to live but can have severe consequences for the electrical circuit boards within the unit. In winter, the outdoor unit will produce condensation which will create a wet environment around the outdoor unit. Lifting the unit up to a wall bracket will allow us to run a condensation pipe to a downpipe or a garden bed removing the water from the base of the unit.

Benefits of split systems

  • Cheap to run, as low as $0.20/hr (2.5kw cooling) suitable for a room 22m2
  • Versatile
  • Low maintenance
  • Very effective

Where both the indoor unit and outdoor unit is positioned, is critical to the effectiveness and longevity of the unit. Call EAS today for a free in-home quote or head to the ‘Quote’ section, enter your requirements and receive a customized quotation.

 standard Installation

A standard Installation is referred to as Back-to-Back (B2B). The indoor unit is installed high on the wall with the outdoor unit outside, directly below it (see image below). It includes 3m of refrigeration pipe and 15m of electrical cable. Anything outside of a standard installation may incur additional charges.
